For me, it's the other way... running Linux under Windows7 (at work).
I've found 3 ways:
    1. busybox.exe -- it's single file.  I use this the most.
    2. cygwin -- it downloads/installs "root filesystem" to a directory.
    You get shell command-line.
    3. VirtualBox -- full blown VM.
