[Bglug] Ubuntu 17.10 quick review

I recently got into snaps (snapd), and one of the primary issue with snaps
is the X11 low (lack of) security,
and years back they said that would end with ubuntu/unity/mir (iirc),
i think mir is gone, and talk of ubuntu+wayland?
do you know is wayland on 17.10 as x11 (secure) replacement.
Snaps seems like good idea, but not a large amount of uptake on it yet :(
